History

To get to know a little more about this institution, one of the questions that come up first of all is related to its name: religious or not?...

Even though the name CONGREGACION MARIANA TRINITARIA, A.C. has its origin in words related to the catholic religion, this doesn’t imply any kind of religious activity. This is because the council members practice the catholic religion, and according to this doctrine, the greatest love is represented by the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost (Holy Trinity = Trinitaria), connected with the representation of Mary (Mariana). Through the name, the members wish to express their feeling, finding this to be the best way they could think of. Nevertheless, we care for petitions and work connections from members and organizations of distinct denominations and religions, or secular, likewise. As for its members, they are catholic; but in their social work they are totally secular and don’t try to promote or convert anyone to Catholicism.

The institution’s work guidelines are defined according to its own constitution, responding to its social purpose.

This institution was launched on January 5th, 1995, initially as an assembly of volunteers and was finally both legally and financially founded on February 18th, 1997. From this date on, the institution strengthened its legal position until being authorized by the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público to receive donations deductible from capital yields tax on Thursday, May 14th, 1998. On Tuesday, October 20th of the same year, it was given the second authorization to receive tax-deductible donations, on this occasion, according to the agreements for avoiding Double Taxation signed by Mexico (deduction of taxes in foreign countries). To maintain these authorizations, the organization must have a strict control of its income, expenses and donations and all activities related to handling of material, human economic and financial resources; thus all its activities are audited twice a year by order of the Secretaría de Hacienda and of the Administrative Council itself. One of them is done by an internal auditor and the other one by an auditor appointed and authorized by the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público.
